Rollout timing: Thursday, March 5th after 7:00pm Pacific

This update includes new features, functionality improvements, and a database update affecting the Music area. The rollout will occur site-by-site after 7:00pm Pacific. Most areas of your site will remain available during the update window. Please read below for more details about what changes you can expect to see on Friday.

Important: Music Area Temporary Downtime

This rollout includes a database update affecting the Music area.

During your site’s update:

  • The Music area will be temporarily inaccessible.

  • Functionality will return automatically once your site’s update is complete.

  • The update process may take a few hours.

No action is required on your end.

New Feature: Spotlight News

A new Spotlight News area allows Choir Genius to share updates directly within your site.

  • Appears on the Help page.

  • Appears subtly at the bottom of the main menu (browser version only).

  • Displays recent YouTube videos, support notices, and relevant blog articles.

New Feature: Public Inboxes

You can now configure a Public Inbox to receive incoming email from the public directly within your site.

For setup instructions and configuration guidance, please see the help page:

Music Learning

  • Fixed an issue where singers were not receiving a notification when their learning status was changed on a submitted music learning record.

  • Fixed assessor notifications so they correctly send when a new recording enters the assessment queue.

  • Music Learning grid is now exportable for easy printing.

Music

  • Setlists can now be archived. Archived setlists appear in their own tab and are visible to leaders only.

  • Alpha-sort button added to the setlist edit screen for easy alphabetization.

  • Music ID numbers now include disambiguation in select lists when duplicate song names exist.

  • Manage Music page now includes a dedicated filter option for music tags.

  • Songs added to programs now display a clickable title linking directly to song details.

  • Allowed file types for Music attachments expanded to include:
mp3, m4a, wav, ogg, pdf, sib, midi, musx, doc, docx, xml, mxl, musicxml, dorico, mscx, mscz, nwc, mus, lrc

Places (Riser Placements)

  • Custom fields can now be selected for display within placement views (configured in Places settings).

  • View buttons updated for clearer selection between names, faces, or custom field displays.

  • Riser placements can now be downloaded as an image for easier printing (select view, zoom as needed, then click “Download”).

  • Zooming out no longer inverts the riser placement.

  • Increased number of riser rows and sections available for larger configurations.

Documents

  • Prevented the ability to accidentally place a folder within itself.

  • Admin view now includes a cleaner display of file/folder structure (member view unchanged).

  • Allowed file types expanded to include:
pdf, doc, docx, xls, xlsx, ppt, pptx, jpg, jpeg, gif, png, txt, ai, ttf, ttc, otf

Manage People

  • CSV export formatting corrected (proper commas and spacing between subgroups and labels).

  • Added a “not” search function within filter options.

  • Character limits in bios set to 888 characters.

Store

  • Removed an incorrect message prompting users to add a saved card to one-time invoice payments created through Invoicing & Payments.
Invoices can now be paid directly without this message appearing.

Events

  • Internal event notes are now visible only to Members/Applicants and above.

  • Community members will see only public notes (available only when an event is marked as public).

Search & Tables

  • Site-wide search (top-right search box) improved to return more complete results, including bulletin body content.

  • Table search fields now include an “X” to clear current search criteria.

Email Templates

  • Templates that have not been edited are now labeled “Unmodified” instead of “Default” to avoid confusion about which template is actively used by the site.

Coming Next: Store Improvements

The next development packet is focused on the Store area.

Work is underway on general functionality fixes, feature requests, and improvements to the checkout flow. More details will be shared in the next rollout notice.
