Why should I move to CG4?

You don't have to, but you might like the new pricing and feature options

If you're a current customer of Choir Genius and have been for a while, you may be one of our "Classic" customers. This means you're using an older version of Choir Genius - but don't worry, it's still a great version! Choir Genius Classic (CG3) has been around for a while and offers a smorgasbord of features with pricing based on the number of active users within a site. 

CG4 is a completely rebuilt product with its own feature lists, and a very different payment structure, so it's not directly compatible with CG3. This is why it's not like previous upgrades with an automatic migration. It's technically not an upgrade, and is instead a new product offering.

CG3 works really well for many of our barbershop groups and has pricing and features that work well for them. CG4 was designed with other music groups in mind, especially children's choir organizations that need to house several choirs within one site with different events, parents, and membership plans.

We do not plan to migrate anyone automatically on G3 over to the G4 platform. We will continue to maintain the G3 platform for security, but will not be doing any feature changes or updates. At this time, customers are welcome to remain on G3 as long as they wish, but please note that the CG3 platform is steadily growing older.


So why might you want to switch to CG4?

CG4 offers many more store features, such as recurring billing for memberships, donation options, stock tracking, and ticket sales. It also features a brand new interface that has been thoroughly tested for member usability and administrator ease-of-use.

It also offers a completely different pricing structure. With three level of features (Conductor, Team, and Executive) there's a mix of features at an affordable price for every group size and dynamic. Need more advanced features, like ticketing, attendance tracking, and QR code check-ins? Then the premium might be for you. Or perhaps you just need music storage and a simple calendar of events. Your large choir that needs minimal features can subscribe at the Conductor level and save money - but still reap the benefits of being a Choir Genius customer.

What to Know About Migrating
Migration is currently manual - content from your CG3 site will need to be exported or downloaded and manually import/uploaded to your CG4 site. This includes members, events, documents, mailing lists, etc.
However, we are happy to let you know that we now have a migration tool for your music/song files. This will allow for the automatic upload of all your songs (titles, arranger and copyright info) as well as your sheet music and pdfs. Please note in your trial request if you would like your music files automatically migrated.

What if I recently renewed by CG3 license?
Not to worry - remaining time on your CG3 license can be applied to your CG4 license when you are ready to officially switch over to the new platform and have your CG3 site shut down.
